QUESTION NO. 11
QUESTION: Councillor E. Murphy
To ask the Chief Executive to please provide an update in relation to the motion passed in early 2019 relating to the improvement works for the walkway between Glenvara and Castlefield estates?
REPLY:
The following is the reply issued in relation to this matter in February of this year. The grass encroachment referred to will be cleared back within the current year. Overlay of the footpath is intended for inclusion in the draft improvement works programme for 2020 which will be presented to the area committee meetings in January next.
'The footpath across the green space between Glenvara and Castlefield estates has been examined and grass encroachment found to have occurred over much of the length of the path. This matter will be addressed in due course. The surface of the footpath is in reasonably good condition for the most part and is not considered to be in immediate need of attention. As the improvement works programme for 2019 was approved by the members at the February Council meeting and the budgetary provision for that programme is fully allocated it is proposed that the footpath at Glenvara/Castlefield will be considered for a complete overlay in the improvement works programme for next year, that is 2020.
