QUESTION NO.21
QUESTION: Councillor Mary Seery-Kearney
Parking Enforcement/Parking Wardens in the Rathfarnham Village area and surrounds.
To ask the Chief Executive, in the context where it is the perception of the local residents that there has been a sudden increase in parking enforcement in the Rathfarnham Village area, can the Chief Executive advise regarding whether this is a policy or if some change with regard to enforcement has occurred recently, and if he would care to make a statement on the matter.
REPLY:
Parking Enforcement in the Rathfarnham Village area and surrounds (and other areas across the county) is underpinned by the South Dublin County Council (Control of Parking) Bye Laws 2010.
In recent months a number of complaints were received from residents in the area alleging an increase in illegal parking. Accordingly, the Council requested the contractor to patrol and monitor the situation.
