MOTION NO. 4

MOTION: Councillor R. Nolan

That this Area Committee notes, since the roundabout was installed at the end of the R 835 and Dodsboro Road, HGV's travelling down the R 835 are too big to go around the roundabout and therefore are going up on the path. This is a safety issue for pedestrian's and also they are destroying the grass verges. Because of this the tidy towns and residents in that area have asked that we make the R 835 HGV free.

REPORT:

SDCC intend to install two vertical concrete barriers along the kerb line at the affected area in order to prevent any further deterioration of the grass verge.

Following a successful trial period with the VCB's in place, we will introduce permanent measures to ensure that the practice does not recommence.
