"That this Area Committee allocate funding to St Francis UTD towards developing a top class Astro pitch in Baldonnell."
REPORT:
St Francis United operate from John Hyland Park in Baldonnell. This park is not in Council ownership.
Clubs who wish to develop their facilities can apply under the Sports Capital Programme (SCP) which is operated by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and provides grants to assist in the development or refurbishment of sports facilities and the provision of sports equipment.
Although the Sports Capital Programme is not open for applications at the moment, the club can contact the Sports & Recreation Office who can arrange for a FAI Development Officers to work with the club to help them prepare the relevant documentation should the programme open for applications in the future.
The Council's Community Infrastructure Fund is now open for applications, the closing date is the 5th April 2019. This is a fund of €350,000 which offers Community Groups (including Sports Clubs) the opportunity to apply for funding, to assist with the costs of either constructing new Community Facilities or for the modernisation and/or expansion of existing premises, requests from a minimum of €5,000 up to a maximum of €50,000 will be considered.
