QUESTION NO. 7

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Chief Executive what are the plans and timescale for tree planting, removal and pruning on St Joseph’s Rd, Greenhills; to ask for a brief timeline of issues at this location; and to ask what budget Is assigned to these works?"

REPLY:

The tree maintenance  - tree pruning and removal - on St Joseph's Road is listed on the 2019 programme of work. Prior to any work taking place, the trees will be surveyed in order to prepare a detailed programme of tree works to be carried out in the area.

Tree planting on St Josephs Road has been included in the 2019 Improvement Works Programme. This will involve the preparation of a tender for the overall design and construction preparation of tree planting pits along the road which will also accomodate the significant adverse challenges including narrow roads, widening of residential driveways, on-street resident car parking,  traffic , overhead wires and underground utility cables located within narrow grass and roadside margins. A budget of €50,000 is set aside for this project and work will take place during the Autumn period.
