COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM/TEMPLEOGUE-TERENURE AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, March 12, 2019
QUESTION NO. 2
QUESTION: Councillor E. Murphy
"To ask the Chief Executive to report on the amount of families in homeless hubs and hotels in the Rathfarnham Templeogue Terenure area?"
REPLY:
At 28/2/2019 there were 287 families registered as homeless with South Dublin County Council and using emergency accommodation. Some families are accommodated in family hubs in Tallaght Cross, High Street (Abberley), Springfield and Firhouse and the rest are accommodated in Hotels and B&B's.
There are 126 families in family hubs in the county:
Abberley (High Street Hub) - 45
Respond Firhouse & Springfield - 17
Tallaght Cross – 64
All families that present as homeless and use emergency accommodation are included on a waiting list for a family hub. Allocation of spaces in South Dublin’s family hubs in general is on a time on list basis. However, exceptions may be made where there are extenuating circumstances in particular cases.
It is not possible to break the information regarding hotel accommodation down by area as the service is provided on a regional basis i.e. clients from South Dublin will be spread throughout the Dublin region."
