"To ask the Chief Executive what resources are available for local community groups looking to take part in National Spring Clean Week?"
REPLY:
National Spring Clean is Ireland’s most popular, well recognized and successful anti-litter initiative.
It takes place during the whole month of April and now in its 20th year.
The purpose of the National Spring Clean initiative is to:
Resident associations, community groups, schools and individuals are encouraged to register with an Taisce. They then receive a clean-up pack with bags, gloves and tabards. South Dublin County Council support this campaign through promoting the event, distributing bags and litter pick materials and collecting the material picked by the group and disposing of it.
In addition South Dublin County Council have very active campaigns to promote community engagement in litter control through the Tidy Towns programme and the Social Credits system. The Community Clean-ups initiative through the Social Credits Scheme allows groups to avail of materials year round. Groups can apply for support for community clean ups through envawareness@SDUBLINCOCO.ie
