QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the following schemes in the area under the remit of this Committee;

- Whitehall-Wellington Cycle Scheme

- Dodder Greenway

- Walkinstown Roundabout Study/Works

- Bus Connects CBC Projects

REPLY:

Whitehall-Wellington Cycle Scheme

A consultant has been appointed for the scheme, they have completed traffic surveys and analysis.

They are currently preparing options for the scheme and the key junctions along the route.

It is anticipated that a draft preferred options report will be completed by May and then evaluated by SDCC and the NTA.

It will then be brought to public consultation and submitted for Part 8 approval.

Dodder Greenway

The detailed design of the Dodder Greenway is currently nearing completion.

When completed we propose to commence the bridge construction works on the scheme in Q3 2019.

Subject to sufficient funding from the NTA in 2019, we propose to also commence sections of greeway to create links between the bridges.

Walkinstown Roundabout Study/Works

The agreed proposed design from the Walkinstowm roundabout study has been handed to NTA for implementation under the Bus Connects Project.

The Walkinstown Roundabout lies on the proposed Bus corridor.

Bus Connects CBC Projects

The core bus corridor project aims to deliver 230kms of dedicated bus lanes and 200kms of cycle tracks along 16 of the busiest corridors in Dublin.

The National Transport Authority has commenced a public consultation in relation to these proposals.

The public consultation for the sixteen core bus corridors is taking place on a phased basis and will run until May 2019.
