QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
"To ask the Chief Executive on an update on progress in providing supported housing for older people on the (site at) Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown and to explain why, given the demand for housing and in particular for "rightsize" housing, it has taken so long to bring this project to planning stage?"
REPLY:
In July 2018, the Council sought expressions of interest from Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) to develop plans for social housing developments on Council owned lands, which included this site on the Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown. Túath Housing Association was the successful AHB selected to deliver this project. Túath Housing has completed a feasibility study of the site. In January 2019 they tendered for a design team through the Office of Government Procurement. Upon appointment the design team will develop full plans for an Older Persons' Scheme on this site. It is anticipated that the proposed scheme will be published under the Part 8 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) in mid Q2 2019.
