QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

"To ask the Chief Executive for a report into community space at Ballynakelly. What was agreed in planning and when will it be delivered?  What is the delay?

REPLY:

The Local Area Plan for the Newcastle Village area envisaged the provision of appropriate community facilities as development increased in the area.

Consideration is currently being given by the Community Services team as to the optimal means of delivering a community facility for the Newcastle area and funding provision is made in the Council’s three year Capital Programme 2019-2021 in this regard.

The Community Services team is also open to examining and working with local groups/organisations to explore the community needs within the Newcastle area, including exploring options that may exist for additional community facilities should needs for additional space be confirmed.
