QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"To ask the Chief Executive if the trees on St Anthony's Avenue, Clondalkin which adjoin the boundary with St Joseph's BNS, Clondalkin could be reduced sigificantly in height."

REPLY:

A planned programme of tree pruning and removals was carried out on the street trees at St Anthony's Avenue, Clondalkin in 2018.  The boundary with St. Joseph's BNS comprises a mixed planting of trees, hedging and shrubs.  The sides of this boundary planting are trimmed back annually as part of the annual hedge maintenance programme which is carried out between September 1st  and March 1st each year in accordance with the provisions of Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976, as amended by Section 46 of the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2000.  A reduction in the height of this boundary planting can be considered as part of the hedge maintenance programme in autumn 2019.
