QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
"To ask the Chief Executive for a report for Balgaddy to address the following issues: How many are on the Transfer list? Why are so many asking to move/transfer? Is it overcrowding or other issues? Report to include how many have a private legal case against the council to date? Please could report be as detailed as possible!"
REPLY:
In order to qualify for a transfer, certain criteria must be met:
Reason for requesting a transfer – downsizing, overcrowding, medical, anti-social, compassionate
A full review of South Dublin County Council transfer list was carried out in 2018, whereby all applicants with open transfers were contacted by letter and requested to state if they still required a transfer. Following this review the position is as follows
Current total number on transfer list (countywide): 386
Balgaddy Transfers (Buirg an Ri, Tor an Ri, Meile an Ri)
Total Transfer requests: 18
Reason for Transfer:
Overcrowding: 8
Downsizing: 2
Medical 6
Maintenance 2
Of these 18 requests, 2 are pending a transfer having been offered and accepted a property
Transfers are offered taking the following into consideration:
We are actively working through the transfer list, and 112 transfers were carried out in 2018.
