QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the development that is taking place at the CB packaging site and in the adjacent lands which adjoin the Ninth Lock Road and the New Nangor Road."

REPLY:

At this point in time no known development is taking place at the CB Packaging site and adjacent lands. The subject site was the subject of a grant of permission in 2015 for an Aldi store. Since that time there has been pre-planning discussion in late 2018 and early this year for a mixed use proposal, comprising residential and commercial development. The pre-planning discussion is at a very preliminary stage, with the likelihood of a strategic housing development application being made to An Bord Pleanála later in the year. Notwithstanding this, a notice was issued by South Dublin County Council in December 2018 to the owner of the relevant site, indicating its intention of placing the site on the Vacant Site Register.
