MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor P. Foley
"That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to review the maintenance issue on Rossmore Road, Templeogue. Following tree maintenance works, grass margins are very uneven - some were never reseeded - and impossible to mow. In addition, overgrown hedging was only partially cut back and is in need of attention. Is there a plan for tree stump removal and/or tree replanting? Is further tree removal planned, some very large trees remain (such as the tree located behind no 3 Rossmore Drive)?"
REPORT:
The trees along Rossmore Road were surveyed and tree maintenance has been carried out. This included the removal of the very large overgrown Cupressus macrocarpa which were planted at the rear of the boundary walls and the maintenance of the street trees growing in the grass margin. The tree stumps have been placed on a stump removal list. However with regard to replacement tree planting, sufficient time needs to elapse to allow for the breakdown of residual underground root material, the process from removal to replanting may take up to 3-5 years.
The grass margins will be reseeded after the stumps have been removed. However the area may be uneven for a period to allow for settlement. The hedge will be listed for maintenance.
The tree at the rear of 3 Rossmore Drive has been surveyed and recommended for formative pruning.
