"That this Council makes a statement on the entire situation at the Orlagh Roundabout detailing the if the contractor will be penalised for the delays in completing the works. Furthermore can SDCC provide reasons for the time delays in the completion of the works, outline the overall cost of the works and outline the details of the traffic survey which was due to be conducted on completion."

REPORT:

The contract started in early July 2018 and was due for completion at the end of November 2018.

Additional time was required to carry out the additional works, which arose for a number of reasons and from various sources – including requests from the NTA, ESB, Bord Gáis and Residents. The contract provides for the provision of additional time, without penalty to the contractor to carry out such works and for delays caused by unfavourable weather conditions.

This additional time brought the completion date up to the beginning of February, when the certificate of substantial completion was issued.

The traffic surveys have been arranged and will be completed in advance of the next RTT ACM, where the NTA will be in attendance.
