MOTION NO. 11

MOTION: Councillor D. Richardson

"That this Council investigate structures to Council properties around the Fettercairn area from blasting at the Roadstone quarry also the dust levels in the area from the quarry." 

REPORT:

The Environmental Health Section require that all blasting operations undertaken at the Quarry must be self monitored to ensure that it complies with standards set to protect buildings from damage, and people from excessive noise and vibration. This monitoring is reviewed by the relevant section on a quarterly basis to ensure no breaches of the relevant standards.

The quarry is required to carry out environmental monitoring regarding general dust from the site and the data recorded must be compliant with the standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

This matter will be referred to Environmental Health Section for investigation.
