MOTION NO. 6

MOTION: Councillor L. Dunne

"That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to locate a dog park on the grounds between Russell Square and Fortunestown Shops.  This area was being used for that purpose by residents who actively looked after the area, removed illegal dumping, stopped anti-social behaviour and put out fires that were lit on the space.  They also opened and locked the gate while using the area until the lock was changed on the gate.  Since the change of lock, it is now being used as a dumping ground."

REPORT:

The area of ground between Russell Square and Fortunestown shops is the subject of a disposal under Section 183 of Local Government Act 2001 and the completion of the sale is being processed at the present time.  The Council's Public realm Section is therefore not in a position to locate a dog run in this area.
