MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor Emma Hendrick

"That this Committee asks the Chief Executive to give a time frame on the introduction of a new Board of Management for Brookfield Youth and Community Centre."

REPORT:

The Brookfield Youth and Community Centre currently hosts a broad range of services delivered by both Foroige and the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board for the young people of the area, . The Council's local community development team have also ensured that the building has been sufficiently maintained to allow for continutation of these youth service programmes.

All other local community activities that operated in the Centre prior to the old management company ceasing to trade are now accomodated in neigbhouring communities facilities thanks to the ongoing support and efforts of the Council's local community development officers.

Efforts are currently being made to form a new entity to take responsibility for the operation of the centre and detailed discussions will be undertaken with representatives of the key stakeholders in this regard. Subject to a suitable agreement arising from these discussions, it is intended to form a new company which will accommodate representation from the wider community."
