MOTION: Councillor M. Johansson

"That this committee agree that South Dublin County Council should explore the option of leasing the Old School building in Newcastle for community use."

REPORT:

The Council has adopted a Local Area Plan for the future expansion of the Newcastle Village area and will work on that basis to explore options and make provisions for additional community space.

The Community Services Department is also open to examining and working with local groups/organisations to explore the community needs within the Newcastle area, this includes exploring options that may exist for additional community facilities should needs for additional space be confirmed.
