REPORT:
The Council, in conjunction with South Dublin County Leisure Services, has plans in place to refurbish the old Clondalkin pool with works including the provision of a new sports floor and ancillary works. The works are being delivered on a phased basis and with works completed to date including the demolition of the old changing rooms, the installation of 20 new car spaces, the decommissioning/removal of the old heating system and the installation of a new roof system.
Significant funding has been secured through the Sports Capital Grant Scheme for the next phase of the works which involves the sealing of the old pool and the installation of a sports type floor. The terms and conditions of the grant funding include a condition requiring that the facility be dedicated to sporting activity.
Additional funding, which has yet to be sourced or confirmed, will be required to complete the final phase of the required improvement works.
