COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 10
MOTION: Councillor K. Egan
"That this Area Committee agrees to the instalment of a large "Do not dump" signs on walls opposite Neilstown Boxing Club.
This has been a regular dumping spot and need to be addressed."
REPORT:
Requests for signs are examined on a case by case basis. This location will be examined with a view to identifying a suitable location for a sign.
The area is also patrolled on a regular basis by the Council's Litter Warden and incidents of illegal dumping reported or detected in this (and any area) are investigated and all dumped material is searched for evidence. Where evidence is found, the appropriate enforcement action is taken under the Litter Pollution Acts. Increasingly, it is found that no personal information relating to polluters is contained within the dumped material, with personal information having been removed or shredded. Regular cleansing is carried out by Public Realm.
As always, the Council is grateful for assistance and support from local residents or others in their investigations of such incidents as they arise. In the absence of substantive evidence / witness statements and the presence of such witnesses in court it is not possible for us to bring successful prosecutions.
