QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive if his Community Department has any plans to engage with the community in Springfield Estate in respect of issues of concern to them which emerged during the recent consideration of the Part 8 Housing Proposals in the Estate; will he ask his staff to probe the need for Community Development in Springfield Estate and will he make a statement?"

REPLY:

"The Local Community Officer is available to meet the St Mark's Resident Association to provide advice and discuss the needs of the community.  The Residents Association may also wish to apply to attend a deputation meeting in the Council: https://www.sdcc.ie/en/services/community/deputations/deputation-documents.html to discuss additional issues of relevance.

The recent Part 8 approval for 40 Older Persons' homes in Fernwood/Maplewood also contains plans for a community facility managed by an Approved Housing Body (AHB) and the AHB will engage with the local Residents Association on the use of this facility and the integration of residents of the proposed new homes with the existing community in Springfield."
