MOTION NO. 14

MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

"That this Area Committee requests the installation of park benches in Rathcoole Park at the location of each playspace attraction (maximum of 3 benches being asked for)."

REPORT:

The present allocation of benches in Rathcoole Park will be examined with regard to their condition, location and use. Other possible locations for the provision of seating will be identified. Seating serves a worthwhile function in a park, however an antisocial element can also gather at seats after hours resulting in damage to the furniture, vandalism and littering.

There are major infrastructural works taking place in the park at present and the provision of any proposed extra seating will be included in the works programme when this work is complete.
