MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"That this Area Committee commends the work done in resurfacing the car park at Clondalkin Leisure Centre and the levelling and reseeding of the river bank at this location.  Could a series of steps be installed at this location so that it might be possible for people to sit and admire the river here?"

REPORT:

The water flow in the river Camac at this location can vary throughout the year. In the winter months there is a consistently high volume of water flowing however this generally reduces in the summer months when demand for the steps are likely to be at their highest. The amenity value of the area would therefore not be greatly enhanced by the provision of steps.

The engineering works required to stabilise the bank to facilitate the construction of the steps would be significant and make the project cost prohibitive. There are no current proposals to install steps at this location.
