QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
"To ask the Chief Executive for an update on Templeogue House, and to make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council has the lease on Templeogue House and a Right of Way to the House and a project proposal was agreed with the elected members to renovate and reuse the House at a cost of €1.2M. The Council does not hold title to the car parking areas, which are used by St Michaels House, Templeogue Bridge Club and to a lesser degree by Cheeverstown. As members are aware South Dublin County Council officials have held discussions in this regard with the Bridge Club and with St Michaels House, who hold certain Title and Rights of Way on the property. In this regard South Dublin County Council is currently awaiting a response from St Michaels House.
The Council implements a maintenance programme to protect the fabric of the house, as required. However Capital spending of the scale proposed in the project to renovate and reuse the building for community use, cannot be undertaken given the title issues that are currently under examination and discussion.
