QUESTION NO. 21
BALLYCULLEN ROAD - WIDENING
QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren
"To ask the Manager if there are any plans in place to improve or widen the roads that surround the roundabout on Ballycullen Road, which connects up the Ballycullen area with the M50 and the Firhouse Road area and given the horrendous problem of traffic build-up in the mornings and evening at this roundabout, if immediate measures are proposed by the Council to deal with this issue and if he will make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
There are no immediate plans to upgrade the particular roundabout. However the M50 upgrade scheme provides for the upgrade and provision of an additional bridge over the motorway which will improve the traffic situation at this location. The contract for this phase of the M50 (ie the PPP contract) is currently being revised but work is expected to commence in 2007.
