MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

"To get a report on progress made in relation to commitments given at the June Area Committee Meeting regarding permission for ducting to be installed in Newcastle Cemetery."

REPORT:

There have been no developments in relation to this matter since the area committee meeting in June.  A request for a meeting was submitted in July by the Friends of Newcastle Cemetery group however, due to annual leave the request was overlooked and not responded to.  A meeting has now been arranged for Tuesday September 25th.  The Council's position on the group's proposals has been given and this requires that the proposal for the provision of electrical cable ducting is revised.  This matter will be discussed when the meeting takes place next week.
