QUESTION NO. 20

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive to update members on his Tourism strategy for Tallaght; will he detail initiatives planned in that regard and will he make a statement?"

REPLY:

The Council 's Tourism Strategy 2015 - 2020 encorporates initiatives planned in the Tallaght area;

The County's tourism branding of Dublin's Outdoors (www.dublinsoutdoors.ie) emphasises the importance of Tallaght as the gateway to the Dublin Mountains.

The Dublin Mountains Visitor Centre is currently under assessment by An Bord Pleanála.

The third stand on the Tallaght Stadium is now compelete and an official opening will be arranged in due course. A feasibility study has commenced to examine the possibility of adding a fourth stand to the Stadium.

A Part 8 for the Dodder Greenway was approved by the members and the scheme is now under detailed design by counsulting engineers. It is anticipated that works on phase one of the scheme will commence in Q1 2019.

Seán Walsh park attained Green flag status in 2018 and the Council's Public Realm section are considering other candidate parks for 2019.

Signage for the Tallaght Heritage trail is currently being procured, it is anticpated that we will take delivery in Q4 and arrange for the signs to be erected as soon as possible thereafter.
