DE SELBY ESTATE - TRAFFIC LIGHTS

MOTION: Councillor M. Corr

"That this committee requests the Manager to review the current exit from the De Selby estate onto the Blessington Road with a view to installing traffic lights and other necessary road markings in order to ensure public safety at this junction."

REPORT:

Road measures included in Transport 21 include the upgrading of the N81(Blessington Road) to provide an extension of the existing dual carriageway beyond its present end-point at the junction with Cheeverstown Road. Given that the timeframe for completion of this extension has yet to be determined within the overall Transport 21 programme, the Roads & Traffic Department will examine the current situation at the De Selby junction to determine the feasibility of introducing short-term low-cost safety measures at this location as an interim measure.
