MOTION NO. 26

MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

"That this committee asks that the Chief Executive supports a Farmers Market in Clondalkin and appoints a staff from Community to sit on a newly formed committee  and help achieve the goal of bringing back a farmers market to Clondalkin and also that he outlines what grants are available to aid the running costs of such a market."  

REPORT:

The Local Community Development Team can liaise with the newly formed Committee and provide advice and assistance where appropriate. The Community Services Department would not have any grants available to assist with the running costs of a Farmers Market.

From an economic perspective, the holding of any Farmers Markets would need to be very carefully considered in relation the quality and content of any offerring and also in relation to potential impact on existing established businesses.
