QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
"To ask the Chief Executive how grass cutting crews were utilised during the summer drought when growth was at a minimum?
REPLY:
The slow down in grass growth which occurred during the summer months facilitated the carrying out of additional works by the Public Realm Section, some of which are listed below -
- Increased maintenance in Cruagh, Tempelogue, Rathfarnham and Whitechurch graveyards
- Increased level of maintenance on playgrounds including Willington and Ballycragh
- Cutting back overgrowth and long grass in Green Acres, Anne Devlin Park, Moyville, laneway in Idrone, the Dodder Greenway and Cherryfield
- Increased level of weed control measures undertaken
- A substantial clean up of the pond and stream in Rathfarnham Castle Park which has transformed these areas
- Cleaning and cutting back of overgrowth on laneways in the Dublin 12 area
- Cutting back briars on Greenhills Road
- Clean up tennis courts in Beechfield and the Dodder
- Clean up around hedgerows in Rossmore
- Clean up and flail long grass in Grosvenor Court
- Increased maintenance in allotments in Friarstown
- Cut and clean up development site off Whitehall Road
- De-silting of pond in Sean Walsh park
- Extra staff assigned to litter picking including more regular picking in Kilnamanagh, Avonbeg and Daletree
- Substantial increase in quantities of waste and litter collected around the County during this period.
