QUESTION NO. 15
QUESTION: Councillor E. O'Brien
"To ask the Chief Executive that noting the imminent announcement of National Transport Authority cycle route funding can the Chief Executive please outline plans for cycle routes to be constructed in the Lucan LEA between now and December 2019 and the source of funding for these routes?"
REPLY:
There are two proposals for cycle schemes in the Lucan LEA. There is a proposal to extend the Grand Canal towards Hazelhatch, and which it is hoped will go for Planning by end 2018. Currently an application has been made to the NTA for funding. If approved and funding is received, it could commence construction in 2019. There is also another scheme to carry out a feasibility study on a Canal Loop to link the Grand and Royal Canals with a Greenway, as part of this proposal, various options in the Lucan Area will be considered. This feasibility scheme is being funded jointly by Fingal County Council, SDCC, the NTA and Waterways Ireland. Construction in 2019 is dependent on the outcome of the feasibility study.
