MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive provide an update on progress in providing supported housing for older people on the (site at) Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown and will he confirm that the priority will be to provide for local residents who are prepared to "downsize"  and thus make their current homes available for new families."

REPORT:

The Housing Department propose to advertise to the Approved Housing Bodies through an Expression of Interest the opportunity to design, build, finance and manage this site for housing for older persons. It is planned to advertise the site within the next 4 weeks. The scheme will be allocated in accordance with the Council's allocations policy and it is anticipated to offer the downsizing opportunity to older persons in under accommodated units which will free up family homes for general allocations.
