MOTION NO. 25

MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"That this Area Committee, being concerned at the lack of engagement by An Garda Siochana with the Council in regard to the heavy weight traffic on Kennelsfort Road and the cell between the R148 and Wheatfield Road, consider further a response to my question on the subject at the March LAC, asks the Chief Executive to invite senior Garda to the May Council meeting where a full discussion on the situation can take place."

REPORT:

A meeting was held on 28/5/2018 in County hall to discuss this matter in detail.

The meeting was attended by relevant SDCC staff, an Inspector from An Garda Siochana, representatives from Palmerstown Community Council and Cllr O'Connell.

The whole issue of the weight restriction and the monitoring of it was discussed. It remains the Council's position that the appropriate limit is in place. As a senior member of An Garda Siochana was in attendance, it is not felt necessary to have a further meeting involving An Garda Siochana.
