QUESTION: Councillor S. Holland

"Could the Chief Executive furnish this Area Committee with the particulars of the site disposal at Old Ballycullen Road, including zoning information and reason for disposal rather than development?"

REPLY:

"The context of the site disposal at Old Ballycullen Road/Castlefield was a strategic decision taken by the Council with the approval of the elected members at a special meeting of the Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee on 27th June 2014 to assist in the provision of homes in the County as a response to Housing delivery in the County.  Consideration was given to development of the site in line with the methodologies for housing delivery.  At a further special meeting of the Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee on 23rd October 2014 a marketing brief was prepared in accordance with the agreed resolution of the elected members. The land was zoned objective "A" to protect and / or improve residential amenity.  This site along with 3 other small Council owned sites were prepared and offered for public sale in the National press in May 2015.

Following conclusion of the tender process the Section 183 was brought before the elected members at the October 2015 County Council meeting where approval by the elected member for disposal of this site was approved."
