MOTION NO. 6

MOTION: Councillor C. McCann

"That this Area Committee look at the possibility of raising the wall and access gate in Bancroft Close.  This area is a hotspot for quad bikes and scramblers and the machines are being lifted over the gate and wall.  Bancroft has a high number of elderly residents and they are concerned there will be a serious accident if these works are not carried out."

REPORT:

"The entrance to Bancroft Park at Bancroft Close/Castle Park has been examined.  The short length of park boundary at this location is made up of a low stone wall with a low railing erected on top.  Arrangements will be made to remove the existing railing and replace it with a 1.2m high railing which should resolve this issue.  The 'kissing gate' entrance will also be replaced with an alternative type entrance which will be capable of restricting access for motorbikes and quads."
