Further to a meeting with the South Dublin Migrant Integration Forum (SDMIF) discussion took place regarding the Intercultural Cook Off provided for in the 2018 Budget. Two possible options were discussed as to how the event may take place.

Option 1:

A masterchef type cook off with potential for a guest judge and a MC with a cooking duration a maximum of 30 minutes to be held in Ballyroan Library with 4 cooking groups (limited no. of cooks) and then a small group invitees. Prizes awarded based on the judges decision.

Option 2:

Professional chefs across the migrant spectrum provide a cooking demonstration based on their own traditional dishes in Ballyroan Library, the demonstration is recorded and then be distributed across social media including the Council's Facebook page and the SDMIF Facebook page

The SDMIF would be the Council's main contact to reach out to the migrant population to participate in the cook off. The SDMIF showed more interest in the second option as they believed if it was successful there was more potential for growth and that different aspects could be factored in such as healthy eating; cooking on a budget; a leaflet type cookbook to go with the demonstration videos etc.
