QUESTION 19

QUESTION: Cllr. Marie Corr

"To ask the Manager to undertake a comprehensive audit of necessary works such as broken boundary walls, positioning of railings/gates etc in partnership with residents representatives of the Brookview area with respect to the security-proofing of the estate in order to eliminate gathering/access points for people engaging in criminal or Anti-social behaviour?"

REPLY

Several railings and walls have been recently been erected at various locations throughout Brookview following requests from residents. With regard to outstanding works on boundary walls, gates and railings, the Estate Officer and Allocations Support Officer in conjunction with resident’s representatives are in the process of compiling a list of necessary works for the Brookview area.

As you are aware, there is also a process being undertaken through the Housing Department, and in consultation with all of the local elected representatives, to identify sites that are currently or are likely to become, problem areas of anti-social behaviour. It is expected that, through these initiatives, all of the areas of concern can be identified and measures taken to tackle the problems identified.
