MOTION NO. 11

MOTION: Councillor R. Nolan

"That this Area Committee, following a request from the tidy towns people in Palmerstown agree to create a pollinator friendly shrub/flowerbed at the Palmerstown village name stone, to complement the other work done by the tidy towns."

REPORT:

There is a Palmerstown name stone located on the east bound lane of the R148 close to the slip lane of the M50 exit at junction 7. The installation of a pollinator friendly shrub/flower bed at this location would require a lane closure to ensure the safety of staff working in the area. It would not be practical to close the lane at this location to undertake the works and again on each occasion where maintenance is required.

There is a name stone located on the west bound lane of the R148 just before the petrol station. Similar constraints exist at this location in relation to traffic management and make working at this site impractical.

If an alternative location could be identified where Council staff are not exposed to unnecessary risk then the matter could be considered further.
