SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor K. Mahon
"The area at Whitestown stream opposite Bolbrook Grove and Drive is particularly prone to illegal dumping and the gathering of materials during high winds. To ask the Chief Executive to investigate whether some simple landscaping in the area around Whitestown Stream, increasing access and use, would assist in reclaiming the area?
Is the area considered for upgrading as part of proposed cycling infrastructure?"
REPLY:
"The large green space at Avonbeg/Avonmore/Bolbrook adjacent to the Whitestown stream suffers from a regular litter problem. The area is currently being cleaned by the Council's Public Realm staff. Arrangements will be put in place to have the area cleaned on a more regular basis, by both Council staff and the road sweeping contractor.
It has been agreed with this committee that the glass recycling bring bank which is located on Avonbeg Road will be removed from the area and consultation is currently under way with regard to the proposed relocation of the facility to a site close to the Bolbrook Enterprise Centre. The removal of the facility from it's current location should assist in improving the litter situation in this area.
The proposal to carry out some landscaping works to improve the area will be examined. The area will be examined for possible inclusion in the Council's tree planting programme in the future."
