QUESTION NO. 1
QUESTION: Councillor K. Mahon
"Can the Chief Executive or Environment SPC please look into options for the provision of suitable bins around Dodder Valley Park Tallaght?
The current design, relative to their usage, does not appear to be fit for purpose for users or council workers charged with their maintanance.
Is there a better design available that may also be more suitable for positioning inside the park?"
REPLY:
"The type of bin in use at Dodder Valley Park is the same as the majority of street litter bins in use around the County and is considered to be acceptable for use in both types of location. An alternative type of bin has recently been installed in Sean Walsh Park and will be considered for use in Dodder Valley Park. A change to a bin which has a slightly larger capacity may have benefits in terms of litter arising around the bin. A slightly larger aperture may also resolve the issue of items not being deposited in the bin properly from time to time. However it may also give rise to the disposal of bags of domestic waste which may also fit through a larger aperture."
