"That the Council review procedures for signing off on works commenced in estates most notably footpath repairs to ensure that works are completed to a baseline standard and remove the necessity to revisit sites post completion of works."

REPORT:

A Road Opening Licence is issued by South Dublin Roadworks Control Unit to all contractors who carry out works on public roads or footpaths. Inspections are carried out by Road maintenance staff during the course of the scheme and any defective works are notified to the contractor. On completion, the scheme is subject to a 24 month maintenance period where any substandard workmanship or materials might be expected to become visible. If no defects are noted at the end of this maintenance period, the refundable deposit is returned to the contractor and the project is signed off and taken back into Maintenance.
