MOTION NO. 14
MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
"That the Chief Executive agree that a plan be put in place to deal with ongoing problems caused by construction traffic and lack of enforcement regarding same in Adamstown and in particular The Paddocks, as a result of multiple applications being submitted in recent years; that residents be actively consulted with regarding the provision of workable solutions; and if a statement can be made on the matter."
REPORT:
There is a plan already in place for the control of traffic at the paddocks. Specifically SDCC and the developers agreed to not open the Paddocks to through traffic until the east-west link road was complete and the hours of construction activity as conditioned in the planning permission are being adhered to. It is expected that the east-west road will open permanently in the coming weeks. This road has been on the SDZ layout since 2002 and all residents bought their homes in the clear light of the site layout. The multiple applications referred to are the expected planning applications based on the SDZ. The construction traffic management plans conditioned and associated with all such developments are in accordance with the planning conditions laid down in their approvals.
The developers at Adamstown have no desire to obstruct or upset routine daily activities in adjoining neighbourhoods. They make a considerable effort to keep open communication lines with residents and associations in order to maintain a healthy relationship. Existing communities must also accept that the approved construction process involves high level of activity that are bound to impact local neighbourhoods.
If residents are maintaining that there are specific identified planning breaches, residents should contact the planning authority with details of the alleged breach for further investigation.
