MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE

Monday, February 26, 2018

QUESTION NO 14.

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

"To ask the Chief Executive to make a report to this Area Committee regarding the recent fire in the underground car park at New Bancroft Hall, indicating if South Dublin County Council has oversight of certification of reinstatement works regarding public water supply, sewage, electrical and gas supply. Has the Council had any interaction with DFB regarding Fire Safety Certification and are there any areas of the apartment blocks, such as walkways etc, in Council ownership?"

REPLY:

"New Bancroft Hall is a private development and as such oversight of any certification of any remedial works following a fire which occurred there on 29 Jan last is a matter for the owners of the complex.  The Council has no ownership within the complex and will not be overseeing the remedial works or certification of same.

The Council has requested an Incident Report in relation to the event from Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) and their response is awaited.

Otherwise, the Council dealt with DFB in the usual way in the past in relation to a number of Fire Safety Certificate applications made in relation to the complex.  Decisions were made based on DFB’s recommendations."
