QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

"To ask what action the Chief Executive intends/can take to prevent construction traffic from using Tandys Lane and to generally insure that the construction of Adamstown and adjoining does not interfere with the quality of life and safety of residents of both Adamstown neighbouring communities?"

REPLY:

There exists a 7.5 Tonne weight limit on traffic using Tandy's Lane. All construction traffic associated with development ongoing on Tandy's Lane has a right to use this lane. Through traffic which weighs in excess of 7.5T is restricted from using this lane. All such offences can only be prosecuted by AGS. Motorists ignoring the 7.5T limit should be reported to AGS with registration number.

Construction traffic is required to pass by and through existing residential neighbourhood from time to time. This is generally kept to a minimum and with the least inconvenience. All existing residential communities in Adamstown and in adjoing established communities will see an increase in construction traffic for a number of years and until the broader roads network for the area is complete.
