COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, February 27, 2018
MOTION NO. 19
MOTION: Councillor R. Nolan
"That this Committee agree to provide the school with a lollipop lady for safety reasons, with 400 children leaving Scoil Mhuire at the same time after school, the principal, parents and the board of management are extremely anxious for the safety of these children with the flow of cars very heavy at that time also."
REPORT:
There are currently 677 students registered attending Scoil Mhuire Girls National School in Lucan. (*DoEducation). All requests for new School Wardens and/or new school crossings are being acknowledged by the Road Safety Officer. There is currently no provision for the appointment of any new School Wardens in any area of the county for 2018. The RSO has however, indicated that he will monitor Scoil Mhuire GNS in addition to other schools requesting a new warden service and this will be added to the list of new school crossings.
It is important to note that there while a school may be added to the 'request list', this is not a guarantee or an agreement that a new school crossing or a new School Warden will be appointed at these schools. A full review of all school crossings throughout the county is ongoing.
