SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

MOTION NO. 5
MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
"That the Chief Executive bring a detailed report (number on the homeless list, families, length of time on list etc) to this committee on the number of persons on the housing list/seeking accommodation north of the N7, the numbers housed in the past three months and the possible responses with timescale to the reminder and that the situation be discussed."
REPORT:
At present there are 8,134 applications on the Council's social housing waiting list, of these 4,720 have expressed a preference for housing in the 'North of the Naas Road' housing area.
In Quarter 3 - 2017 the Council allocated 67 dwellings. 31 of these allocations went to homeless applicants.
It is not possible to give an accurate timescale as to when the remainder will be housed. However the table below shows the average time applicants (county wide) remain on the waiting list before they are housed through the Choice Based Letting system.
AVERAGE TIME ON LIST SINCE COMMENCEMENT OF CBL
