QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Brien

"To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the timescale for all the winning projects from the Have Your Say vote to be completed. This report will also have the area were the projects below will be placed;

Planting Native Apple Trees, Lucan Electoral Area.
Free Library Book Banks in Public Places – Lucan Electoral Area.
Multi-Games Wall in Lucan.
If no area has been set for any of these projects can a list of possible area's be given?"

REPLY:

The commitment given under the €300K Have your Say initiative for the Lucan area was that the successful projects would be completed in the year following the initiative, which is by September 2018. The following information is provided on the 3 projects requested in the Question

Planting Native Apple Trees - The Irish Seed Savers Association have been contracted to provide the trees. Park locations are to be finalised and will then be circulated to elected members.

Free Library Book Banks in Public Places – South Dublin Libraries have purchased the required books to be used for the 300k Have Your Say initiative. These items have now been processed. Libraries have been in contact with six centres in the Lucan/Palmerstown area and are finalising arrangements with the centres to distribute the books to them. Once agreed, elected members will be updated on the locations and the Council will also promote through social media.

Multi-Games Wall - The tender is being finalised to be published in the coming weeks. It usually takes about 8 weeks to order and deliver equipment so construction is programmed for early to mid 2018. This timeframe is based on similar projects elsewhere but is highly dependent on the outcome of the consultation. The Multi-Games Wall is envisioned for Griffeen Valley Park.
