MOTION NO.5
MOTION: Councillor P. Donovan
"That this Committee seeks to engage with Management on the rollout of 30KPH to identify opportunities to review selected roads for 30KPH appropriateness and also to identify opportunities for additional and/or complementary signage to support the enforcement of this law in our Communities."
REPORT:
"A countywide speed limit review was undertaken throughout 2016/2017 and as a result new speed limit bye-laws were adopted by the Council on 13/3/2017. This review was conducted in accordance with "Guidelines for Setting and Managing Speed Limits in Ireland" published by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in 2015. The elected members were fully involved in the process throughout and made many valuable contributions.
The Guidelines require local authorities to conduct a review of speed limits at least on a 5 year basis. It has not yet been decided when the next full review will be undertaken. However, all suggestions/submissions in relation to 30km/h appropriateness or other measures in line with the motion will be fully considered."
