SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, November 28, 2017
MOTION NO. 10
MOTION 10: Councillor G. O'Connell
"That the Chief Executive make contact with his counterpart in Fingal County Council to set a date for a meeting of the Liffey Valley Monitoring Committee."
REPORT:
The Liffey Valley Monitoring Committee was established to oversee the implementation of the Management Plan for the Liffey Valley Special Amenity Area Order (SAAO) lands. Delivery of objectives in the plan has not progressed in recent years due to there being no specific budget provision or available staff resources assigned to implementation.
However, a feasibilty study on options and recommendations for tourism and recreational opportunities for the Liffey Valley which was commissioned by South Dublin County Council and Fingal County Council has identified a series of objectives which, if implemented, may achieve a number of actions of the SAAO Management Plan. It is an action of the South Dublin County Council Management Team Plan for 2018 to progress the recommendations of this study.
A briefing will be arranged with the Members of Lucan ACM to outline the approach to delivery and implementation of the study in the coming weeks.
